On a Mutual Coupling Agnostic Maximum Likelihood Angle of Arrival Estimator by Alternating Projection

This paper develops a maximum-likelihood angle-of-arrival estimator that does not require knowledge of the array’s mutual-coupling structure. The non-convex joint optimization over AoA and coupling parameters is solved via alternating projection, yielding an efficient algorithm that achieves the unconstrained ML accuracy without prior calibration.
